Development of a database/application development system for Internet and intranet use for this startup company. Using Java and a three-tier middleware system to access Sybase, developed a GUI system with many screen interfaces for storage and retrieval of data. Managed a team of 4 people in development of a prototype and demonstration system.
HealthSelect, Inc.
Contractor (Project Manager/Programmer), 1996 to July 1997
Java development of a healthcare enrollment system. Designed and developed multiple complex screen interfaces using Microline grid component where the grids are created dynamically using data driven logic. Implemented JDBC/ODBC bridge to develop prototype using MS Access. Used NetCharts graphing components to create 3-dimensional bar graphs from user-entered values. Utilized Symantec Cafe‚ compiler and debugger. In addition, wrote Java components from scratch: Bar graph components, animation, and other AWT interface components. Researched, developed and wrote functional requirements, system architecture, and external design specifications for benefit management system. Recruited, interviewed,and hired development staff. Organized and led design meetings. Worked with CEO and advisors to develop project plans, schedules, resources and budgets.
The EC Company, Relationship: Contractor (Project Manager/Programmer), 1995 to 1997
Team leader to design and prototype commercial software for integrating divergent accounting systems to enable accounting system documents to be sent electronically to trading partners with dissimilar accounting software and then be imported into the recipient's accounting system.
Designed Socket File Format, a meta structure and format used as a standard format into which and from which data is converted and translated for ANSI X12 EDI and for other electronic commerce documents. The EC Company received a patent on this technology.
Wrote mapper/parser which allows an end-user to map application software report output and convert it to Socket File Format. Participated in the design of and documented design for a billing system and an EDI translator. Wrote job tracking system. Wrote documentation for script file, software integration system. Designed and wrote software for spamming core network to test electronic commerce traffic on network under various load conditions.
Occular Sciences Corporation, Relationship: Subcontractor (Project Manager/Programmer), 1994
Team leader in the design and development of accounting and business management systems. Completely replaced legacy accounting system with new and modified design of state-of-the-art SBT accounting systems. Completely rewrote accounts receivable, sales order and other systems. Created accounting system add-ons for special shipping, billing and many other requirements.

Team leader in the design, development, and implementation of accounts payable systems. Completely replaced legacy accounts payable system. Completely rewrote accounts payable systems.
French Government, Relationship: Subcontractor (Project Manager/Programmer), 1993
Team leader in the design and development of a worldwide nuclear waste tracking system. Led a team of four developers in writing a system to track the shipment and movement of nuclear waste throughout the world. Hired and trained all subcontractors and employees, managed their performance, and motivated them to complete the project within planned deadline dates.
SBT Corporation, Relationship: Employee (Senior Programmer), 1991 to 1993
Designed and developed a high-end general ledger -- a portion of an entire commercial professional accounting system. Managed a project team of five people during the development phase. This general ledger is currently used in 140+ AT&T offices and many other Fortune 1000 companies.
Organized and led design review team, developed project schedules, tracked developer deadlines, participated in setting and implementing programming standards, evaluated employees, counseled developers, led training sessions, disciplined and motivated employees, and hired subcontractors.
Managed special project team to design and develop a report generator. In addition to design, project management responsibilities included documentation, implementation, planning, scheduling, projecting results, coordinating people and equipment, and budgeting.
Developed a proprietary, date sensitive general ledger system that processes transactions to provide a "real-time" rollup of income and expense accounts.
Automated critical programming and program documentation tasks using Multi-Edit Programmer's Editor.
Provided all initial design and analysis, and helped to organize focus groups and ensure that design specifications met marketing objectives.
