E-mail Questions Eudora Mail Assistance The following instructions will give you information and descriptive screen shots for configuring Eudora Mail on your screen. In all cases, 'username' should be replaced with your user ID, for example 'jsmith'. Your user ID does not need to be followed by '@m-l.net'.
To begin configuration of Eudora Mail, open the Eudora program, then click on Tools, then Options. Once you have selected Options, the Options window will appear.
Under Category, confirm that Getting Started is selected. In the POP account, ensure it reads 'username@mail.m-l.net' in lowercase letters. Username should be replaced by your user ID only. for example, 'jsmith' would appear without '@m-l.net' after it. Under Real Name, please type your real name or a nickname, if you prefer. Capitalization is not important in the Real Name field. Under Connection Method, click on the radio button next to Winsock. Please see the example above for more assistance.
Next, select the icon under Category labeled Personal Information. After you do this, it becomes highlighted, and new fields will appear. The POP account field should read 'username@mail.m-l.net'. For example, 'jsmith@mail.m-l.net' would appear. Under Real name, type in your real name. In the Return address field, please confirm it reads 'youraddress@yourdomain.com', where youraddress is the part of your email address before the @sign; for example 'jsmith' or 'john'. Now select the icon labeled Hosts. In the POP account field, confirm it reads 'username@mail.m-l.net', where username is your user ID in lowercase. For example, 'jsmith@mail.m-l.net' would appear. In the SMTP field, confirm it reads 'mail.m-l.net', in lowercase letters. Leave the Ph and Finger fields blank. Please see the example above for more assistance.
Next, select the icon labeled Checking Mail. The POP account field should read 'username@mail.m-l.net' where username is your user ID in lowercase letters. If you would like Eudora to continue checking for mail while you are online, set Check for mail every '15' minutes. We suggest setting it to every 0 minutes, so that getting email is a manual process, making offline access simpler. The Send on check, Leave mail on server (suggest 7 days), and Save password options should all be selected, while Skip big messages should be left blank. Authentication Style should be set to Passwords. Please see the example above for assistance.
Finally, select the icon under Category labeled Sending Mail. In the Return Address field, confirm it reads 'username@yourdomain.com', where username is your user ID in lowercase letters. For example 'jsmith@safetynetwork.com' would appear. In the SMTP server field, it should read 'mail.m-l.net', in lowercase letters. All options, listed under the SMTP server field, should be selected. Please see the example above for assistance. Once these steps have been completed, please click on 'OK', and you will have configured Eudora correctly. |
